Hello, and Welcome To Our Website. Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself. My name is Tracey Johnston. I am first a wife, mother and homemaker, then - a breeder of Standard Poodles. Lastly comes my profession - tool designer for an aerospace manufacturer... My breeding hobby was never even a thought until we experienced "co-habitation" with our first Standard. It didn't take long for me to switch gears from having babies (I have 6 now) to having baby-puppies instead! After much research, study and literally hours on the phone to many reputable breeders, I learned the proper steps to becoming a responsible breeder. All our pets/breeding stock are fully tested before being selectively bred, creating a combination of beauty, structural soundness, intelligence, gentle temperament, and genetic health to compliment the breed. Allow Me to Introduce You to OUR Special Companions...
At BIRDPATCH KENNELS, our dogs are PETS & FAMILY MEMBERS! Only SECOND are they our "Sires" & "Dams"
Pups are raised IN OUR HOME just as their parents have been. We ARE NOT a "Kennel" (so please don't let our name mislead you), but rather a family that loves the Standard Poodle breed. Pups are WELL SOCIALIZED in an environment of multiple children & grand-kids, both young and older (1 to 10 yrs + teens), other pets and occasional "strangers". Pups are handled, played with and temperament tested on a daily basis. Pups are subjected to various conditions to determine their level of curiosity, shyness or boldness, adaptability and willingness to learn & be taught. This helps to evaluate the type dog they will become as they mature, thus assisting in the process of pairing the buyer with the most suitable pup for them. BIRDPATCH KENNELS places high priority on this process, taking into consideration the buyers environment, lifestyle and basic qualities and traits they are looking for in their Standard Poodle. Occasionally we have older pups to offer. Sadly, it is usually MALES that are left behind, as a lot of people only see Poodles as "Girlie" and won't even consider the option of bringing a male into their family. The boys that remain with us are treated as our own - part of our family, sleeping in our childrens beds and begging for scraps right along side our "permanent resident" dogs. They become even more special to us than the younger pups as they are given names and a place in our hearts. Only the "Right" inquiry will be awarded the privilege of their adoption. The basic temperament/intelligence of Male & Female Poodles are very similar, yet very different in subtle ways. PLEASE ask questions - do your "homework" before deciding that you are only willing to adopt a female. An experienced breeder can point out the differences and help you decide which sex best fits your household.

Because we are a small kennel run by a BIG family, we at BIRDPATCH KENNELS are able to offer QUALITY puppies with OUTSTANDING CHAMPION PEDIGREES for a FRACTION OF THE COST other breeders charge. All profits from puppy sales go back into testing any pup(s) we keep as family pets and future additions to our breeding program. Most breeder's puppy profits are applied towards funding multiple show related activities. We generally have only one or two dogs in the ring at a time, reducing the need to generate large profits from our breeding program in order to fund our show activities. Though many of our pups appear to be of "SHOW" POTENTIAL, going to a "SHOW" HOME is NOT A PRIORITY to us here at BIRDPATCH KENNELS. Though occasionally, OPEN (full) REGISTRY, "SHOW" and "BREEDER" CONTRACTS are AVAILABLE, our priority is seeing them go to wonderful "FOREVER" HOMES where they can live up to their potential as intelligent and loving companions.
